Tobacco Cessation Programs Biography
The Manhattan Tobacco Cessation Program (MTCP) is housed within New York University’s School of Medicine and is funded by a grant from New York State Department of Health’s Tobacco Control Program.
MTCP assists partnering Community Health Centers, Federally Qualified Health Centers, Personalized Recovery Oriented Services Programs, and any other health care institutions that want to develop and implement tailored systems that prompt clinicians to routinely ask every patient about tobacco use, advise smokers to quit, and assist smokers in their quit attempt through referral resources and pharmacotherapy. In addition to strengthening documentation systems, MTCP also offers the following services and resources free of charge to partnering health care sites:
 Assists health care institutions implement comprehensive tobacco use treatment protocols
 Onsite training for staff on brief cessation counseling, use of pharmacotherapy and facilitating onsite quit workshops for patientsAssistance with the development of documentation systems for screening and treatment of patientsAssistance with the development of tobacco use treatment and other related policies
 Referral procedures for local and state cessation services, including a direct provider referral resource called Fax-to-QuitTobacco education and cessation material for both providers and patients
    20 CME credits for MDs, NPs and PAs
